Project Three Presentations

Good evening all,

Today my WEPO class finished up project three presentations. For this project, we were to provide a public relations team in groups for a local organization. Groups chose to work with local non-profits and campus organizations. Groups created and circulated three artifacts for their organization and reported their conclusions. In every presentation, I saw the keywords from this class implemented. Every group acknowledged design, their audience, networking, and circulation, to name a few. It was extremely interesting to see how each group incorporated these keywords into their projects in order to accommodate their organization’s needs. The processes varied from group to group—some groups maintained regular contact with their client, while others experienced constraints through loss of contact. Each group considered genre in the creation of their artifacts, and it was interesting to see how many groups chose to work with the digital genre. Digital artifacts included Instagram accounts, Snapchat geofilters, Facebook group pages, websites, and much more. Circulation was also seen throughout each group’s project, whether it was a wide array of circulation or a smaller one. I noticed that digital platforms, particularly social media, made circulation very successful and reached a wide range of viewers. I think the concept of networking was also very prevalent within group’s projects because most groups were able to communicate efficiently with their clients and created relationships with professionals through this project. I think all of these qualities allowed for very successful campaigns and presentations. After viewing the presentations, I would have tried to get a clearer idea of what our client wanted us to promote through our artifacts specifically. Since we were working for a law firm, we did not want to post things that were not agreed with or approved of by our client. As Twitter is something that must be engaged with very regularly in order to thrive, it was not possible to ask for approval and get a response for every single tweet. Because of this, my group resorted to pulling information from the website, as we knew this information was already approved of. Overall, I believe that my group’s campaign was effective because we established a social media presence for a law firm and were able to begin the first steps in creating a social media presence. I also believe other groups were very successful in their campaigns because they were effective in ensuring circulation.
